The South China Research Center (SCRC) is one of the institutions in the Division of Humanities, in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). It was set up in 1997 to establish and promote an academic connection between scholars and institutions in South China studies. A branch office, focusing on research of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, at the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School in Nansha, Guangzhou was established in 2007. Our Resource Stations collect many source materials which, if not collected immediately, will soon disintegrate into oblivion. We also record events, particularly rituals, which are undergoing rapid changes due to modernisation. We further catalogue and publish collected materials. Through South China Research Resource Station System, we are actively engaged in academic exchange by collaborating with the following institutions: Sun Yat-sen University, Jiangxi Normal University, Institute of Chaozhou Studies, Xiamen University and Jiaying University.
