The Fan Lau Tin Hau Festival, one of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage items, will be held from May 17 to 21, 2025 in Tai O. Cantonese Opera will be performed to celebrate the birthday of Fan Lau Tin Hau. There will be a lion dance performance and the redistribution of flower-cannons on May 20, the main day of the festival. On May 17, during the Ritual of Inviting Deities from Fan Lau, a field trip for the public will be held to explore the relationship between “Tai O” and “Fan Lau,” as well as the relationship among the fishing industry, Cantonese Opera, and the Tai O community.
