To celebrate the annual Tin Hau Festival in Hang Hau, a bamboo theatre, decorated with flower boards, is built in Hang Hau Village for the Cantonese opera performances. Tin Hau’s image, escorted by the traditional Hakka unicorn dance troupe, will be invited to the theatre to monitor the event. On the way to the theater, the troupe will parade the community and bring the residents good fortune.
On the 4th Hang Hau ICH Day, these traditional customs and crafting techniques, as Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage, will be featured in the bamboo theatre.
